The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) launched the eighth iteration of the Global Information Dominance Experiment, known as GIDE 8. This iteration began Dec. 4 and will conclude Dec. 15. Building on the success of the previous experiments, GIDE 8 aims to provide a Minimum Viable Capability (MVC) of Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) to the Joint Force by the end of the year.
GIDE 8 gathers a diverse team from all service branches and combatant commands, the Joint Staff and international partners. The primary goal of GIDE 8 is to deliver a Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) capability aligned to two mission threads: global integration and joint fires. By the end of the year, the experiment aims to successfully iterate on CJADC2 concepts, wargame global crisis scenarios, develop new Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs), and influence policy to move the Department's CJADC2 efforts forward.
Col. Matthew Strohmeyer, Experiment Director for GIDE, highlighted the significance of the experiment, saying, "GIDE 8 is culminating a year of rapid experimentation resulting in the fielding of initial CJADC2 capabilities focusing on global integration for decision advantage."
GIDE has already achieved remarkable successes, completing three iterations this calendar year, an unprecedented feat that would typically unfold over several years. The rapid iteration has enabled the shadowing of real-world events in a sandbox environment, resulting in real and usable data pipelines and architecture for crisis events. Through tools training and GIDE participation, real-time collaborative digital data sharing international partners and elements of U.S. DoD have had a groundbreaking outcome.
The GIDE series will continue to expand into 2024, using lessons learned from previous iterations.
