The WA Government has released the Phase One Consultation Outcomes Report detailing the community and stakeholder response to the Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct.
A wide range of suggestions collected from the community and stakeholders interested in the new precinct have been outlined in the report.
Delivering a major precinct for community, entertainment, culture, arts and sport at Burswood is a key election commitment of the Cook Labor Government, with the consultation representing a critical initial milestone in the delivery of the project.
Almost 90 organisations were engaged directly through meetings with the project team or Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier Daniel Pastorelli, including 26 sporting organisations and six local governments.
The online consultation platform was open from 15 May to 20 June 2025 and received visits from 5,327 unique individuals and was in addition to four in-person public drop-in sessions held, which had more than 330 community attendees.
The online platform received contributions from 280 individual contributors, with about 76 per cent providing supportive ideas for the precinct's development.
A wide range of suggestions were collected via an online platform, in-person drop-in sessions and targeted consultation with stakeholders, and these will inform the detailed design of the precinct.
A mailout was also sent to around 24,000 households throughout surrounding suburbs, in addition to social and traditional media communications, encouraging residents to help shape the design of the precinct.
Ideas included special events and permanent amenities for cyclists and other community groups, to landscape and environmental enhancements - like an urban forest, as well as improved access and facilities for everyday park users.
To further bolster local music, tourism and hospitality in WA, the infrastructure at the precinct will include a new outdoor amphitheatre with capacity for 15,000 to 20,000 people, as well as a multi-use building and multi-use track, which would be used for an annual motorsport event, delivering significant economic benefits.
Opposition to the project centred around some residents having the misconception that the precinct would be used regularly for motorsport, rather than the intended annual event.
Detailed site investigations are underway at Burswood Park with required approvals and under strict management controls. In addition, the project will be submitting a Referral Proposal to the Environmental Protection Authority in the coming weeks.

As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"Community and stakeholder feedback supports our goal to design a world-class precinct that can support Australian and international music, entertainment and sporting events, but is primarily an incredible community asset that everyone can enjoy.
"The precinct will deliver on the aspirations of the Burswood Park 20 Year Vision, to transform the area into an iconic recreational and tourism destination.
"Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas to help shape the Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct.
"Our government is committed to ensuring this precinct delivers significant economic benefits to the State while ensuring local residents have access to amenity that supports healthy, active lifestyles and improved transport connections."
As stated by Parliamentary Secretary Daniel Pastorelli MLA:
"I want to thank everyone across the community for being part of this initial consultation process - it was constructive and proved very beneficial for the detailed design of the precinct.
"The ideas and feedback are now being fed into the design process, and we look forward to seeing the project progress to the next stage, which will provide for further consultation opportunities.
"What was very clear from the consultation process, both the individual meetings and the drop-in sessions, is that many people had the misconception that the precinct would be used regularly for motorsport - which is not the case - and many residents appreciated the clarity surrounding an annual motorsport event."
