Perth Motorplex breaks new record

  • Perth Motorplex sets new burnout event attendance record
  • Over 7,000 fans attended the first event of the Motorplex season
  • Events such as Burnout Boss creating jobs and boosting the local economy
  • The first major event was held at Perth Motorplex last Saturday (October 17) - 2020 Burnout Boss - and a record crowd of over 7,000 spectators and 147 competitors were in attendance.

This was the venue's highest ever attendance for a burnout event and a fantastic start to the season.

Over the last two years, this event has seen between 2,000 and 3,000 fans.

The 2020 Burnout Boss event was the first major event to be held since the early conclusion of the 2019-20 season due to COVID-19.

Dragsters and speedway fans are in for an exciting season of upcoming events with such events as ANDRA Drag Racing Test N Tune on October 25, Formula Tech Performance on October 28 and Summer Slam Series Opener on November 7. To view all upcoming events, visit http://www.motorplex.com.au

All events held at Perth Motorplex and all State Government owned venues have and will continue to be prepared under current COVID-19 restrictions and maintain strict and safe capacity limits.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

"What an achievement for Perth Motorplex and the team to have broken such a record at the start of the season.

"Such high attendances have been made possible by the freedoms enjoyed by Western Australians thanks to the State's hard border - with the 7,000 spectators almost double that of the 4,000 daily attendance cap of the 2020 Bathurst 1000 held in NSW last week.

"This milestone was achieved through the delivery of world-class sprint events at the State's premier motor sport facility, with quality staff working at the helm.

"I look forward to another successful year of racing and events at WA's best motorsports facility as well as announcing the appointment of a new venue operator very soon."
