State Government venue owner VenuesWest has awarded its first contract to an Aboriginal business under the McGowan Government's new Aboriginal Procurement Policy.
Wilco Electrical has been awarded a contract to complete various upgrades to 16 corporate suites and two media and race control rooms at Perth Motorplex. The contract is worth more than $80,000.
The contract award follows the McGowan Government's commitment to develop entrepreneurship and drive business opportunities for Western Australia's Aboriginal community.
Wilco Electrical has established an important partnership with the Wirrpanda Foundation to deliver sustainable employment outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Wilco Electrical and the Wirrpanda Foundation pride themselves on providing pathways for Aboriginal people in the distribution, installation and maintenance of its state-of-the-art electrical technology.
The State Government's Aboriginal Procurement Policy provides a framework for procuring goods and services from Aboriginal businesses, and supports positive change and increased job opportunities for Aboriginal people throughout the State - while laying a foundation for reconciliation.
VenuesWest has recently released requests seeking services from local Aboriginal businesses at Champion Lakes Regatta Centre and the SpeedDome.
