Western Australia has scored another mass participation sporting event, with Perth selected to host the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships.
The pinnacle tournament for the world's top masters squash athletes will take place from 30 August to 6 September 2026 and bring together more than 1,000 masters athletes to Perth to compete for the championship titles.
After a competitive international bid process, Perth was chosen as the host city thanks to its high-quality sporting facilities, strong track record for delivering major and mass participation events, and its unique appeal as a world-class tourist destination.
Supported by the Cook Government through Tourism WA, matches will be held at Perth's top squash centres, Squashworld Mirrabooka and Belmont Squash Centre.
The championships will not only showcase elite-level sport, but also generate strong visitation from competitors, officials, and spectators from more than 55 countries, boosting local businesses, hotels, and hospitality venues across the Perth metropolitan area.
Mass participation events like this form a major part of the Cook Government's events strategy, delivering strong economic returns, generating jobs, and helping grow the State's visitor economy.
