Perth Zoo launches live giraffe cam

  • Perth Zoo giraffes are now being live streamed
  • The cameras will give a sneak peek into the giraffe bedroom
  • Perth Zoo's majestic giraffe herd can now be watched virtually, thanks to a live camera installed in the giraffe's bedroom.

The live stream cameras will allow people all over the world to get a sneak peek at Perth Zoo's giraffe in the evening and early morning when they are in their night quarters.

In the coming days, viewing will be enhanced with more cameras installed overlooking the African Savannah.

Virtual visitors will be able to watch the giraffe throughout the day, including seeing them feed, sleep and explore their African inspired home.

The live stream is thanks to a partnership with CCTV experts, Zenien and Milestone Systems, which have worked closely with the Zoo to bring the giraffe directly into people's living rooms.

As stated by Environment Minister Stephen Dawson:

"The live camera stream allows the people of Western Australia and Perth Zoo enthusiasts from around the world to stay connected to our animals like never before. I encourage you all to tune in regularly to watch what the giraffe herd gets up to behind closed doors.

"The youngest of the herd, Inkosi, is growing taller by the day. Following his birth, he amassed quite a digital fan club, with more than 3 million people watching his exploits on the Zoo's Facebook page.

"The live giraffe cam will now allow Inkosi fans a front row seat to his daily adventures.

"The giraffe live cam is just one of the many initiatives we've rolled out over the last few weeks to bring the beautiful Perth Zoo directly to you, albeit virtually.

"The Zoo's website hosts a virtual home safari, keeper talks and digital educational resources, while the Zoo's Facebook page has weekly live keeper Q&As and adorable animal live streams."
