Pets in Park returns

Stonnington's pets take centre stage at Pets in the Park

The City of Stonnington's annual Pets in the Park event is returning this year to Central Park, Malvern East on Sunday 28 March. This free, family-friendly event celebrates Stonnington's animals with displays, competitions, workshops, stalls and presentations, while providing valuable information on responsible pet ownership.

City of Stonnington Mayor, Cr Kate Hely is thrilled this popular event is being held again, and said that it gives the community an opportunity to come together and celebrate their beloved pets and our local businesses.

An avid dog lover, Cr Hely believes her parents bought a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy when she was just 'passing through' Melbourne to New Zealand, to keep her here – and it worked!

Having attended and loved this free community event previously, Cr Hely said "We are delighted to have Mike Larkan back to host the event. He will be sharing the stage with pet behaviourist Lara Shannon, and Dr Melissa Meehan from Animal First Aid. It really will be a fun and informative day".

Pet professionals Lara Shannon and Dr Melissa Meehan will cover everything from basic first aid to animal separation anxiety, something our pets may all be suffering as we return to working in the office.

The day will also feature live presentations including The Rookeepers and their native animals; Richard Rowe from Sustainable Gardening Australia on keeping worm farms and composting, and Happy Healthy Chickens with poultry expert Jessamy Miller. Stonnington's animal management team will also be on hand to answer your pet ownership questions.

For the children, Smart Art will be running craft activities and the popular duo Victor and Victoria will be there teaching kids about living safely with dogs and responsible pet ownership.

The Superstar Competition, presented by PETstock, will award Best Trick and Best Dressed to two special pooches.

Pets are welcome to attend the day's activities, secured on lead at all times. Pet owners are responsible for picking up after their pets.

Two legs or four legs, everyone can enjoy and learn at Pets in the Park 11am- 4pm.
