Hundreds of commuters on the Gold Coast line have this morning caught a train for the first time from the new Pimpama Station, signalling a major milestone for south east Queensland.

After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start and a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.

The station, which sits between Ormeau station to the north and Coomera station to the south, is the first station to open on the Gold Coast in 16 years and gives residents more options to travel to work, school, medical and leisure activities.

The modern and accessible station features 380 car parks, a pedestrian overpass with lifts on each platform, a 40-bicycle lock-up enclosure, lighting and CCTV throughout.

There's also ten accessible carparking spaces, braille and tactile station maps, hearing aid loop coverage, lifts and seating.

The opening of the station means slight train timetable changes for those travelling on parts of the Gold Coast line, with local bus routes also realigned to integrate with new station and updated rail timetables.

Pimpama is one of three new stations being delivered on the Gold Coast, along with Hope Island and Merrimac.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the Crisafulli Government was committed to delivering the generational transport infrastructure Queensland needed for 2032 and beyond.

"We're proud to be getting on with completing this station for the booming Gold Coast region, with two other brand-new train stations at Hope Island and Merrimac under construction as well," Minister Mickelberg said.

"The best part about growing our public transport network is that it will only cost commuters 50 cents for their journey, thanks to the Crisafulli Government's permanent 50 cent fares.

"This is the first new station to open in the south east since the Redcliffe Peninsula line opened in 2016 and we are pushing full steam ahead to deliver the generational rail infrastructure for 2032 and beyond.

"The three new Gold Coast stations are part of a wider network we're delivering to improve public transport across South East Queensland, including Logan and Gold Coast Faster Rail, a new underground line through the Brisbane CBD and The Wave on the Sunshine Coast."

Member for Coomera Michael Crandon said it was exciting to be there to open the new station as locals boarded trains.

"This station is long overdue, and project completion is the culmination of a lot of community advocacy over many years. This isn't just about catching trains - it's about catching up with the needs of our rapidly growing community," Mr Crandon said.

"Pimpama has been one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Queensland, and today marks a milestone in making sure our infrastructure keeps pace with that growth. It's a win for local families, businesses, and future generations."

Queensland Rail CEO Kat Stapleton welcomed customers to the brand-new Pimpama station.

"There will be a train at this station approximately every 10 minutes during peak times and then every 30 minutes during off peak times, every day of the week," Ms Stapleton said.

"This means more than 90 services running through this new station each weekday and at least 70 services each weekend day, allowing our customers plenty of options to get to where they need to go.

"We would like our customers to be aware that there are slight timetable changes to parts of the Gold Coast line – with trains arriving up to two minutes earlier inbound (travelling to Brisbane) and leaving up to two minutes later travelling outbound (toward the Gold Coast) for stations between Varsity Lakes and Coomera.

"We are so proud to continue the Queensland Rail tradition of connecting communities, as we have done for the past 160 years."
