Plan Right: Approved development in five days

Developers can secure approval for development applications within just five business days, thanks to Townsville City Council's revamped Plan Right process.

The accelerated assessment process provides a quicker and simpler pathway to advance development applications, with the added benefit of reducing application costs for customers.

Planning and Development Committee chairperson Mark Molachino expressed that the changes would enhance the customer experience while interacting with Planning and Development.

"Council is seeking to support the community and reduce barriers to development, enhance project outcomes, and assist projects to commence sooner, all of which contributes to the growth of the region," Cr Molachino said.

The changes exemplify Council's commitment to building a robust and valuable investment environment, fostering prosperity for local businesses, emerging industries, partnering organisations and residents alike.

"A review of Plan Right process was a good opportunity to showcase to customers and the broader community that the Council is deeply committed to Townsville's growth and positioning the region as an attractive place to invest," Cr Molachino said.

"We are bold and forward-thinking, investing in process innovation to streamline assessments and promote cost-effectiveness, directly benefiting our community.

"The Plan Right process allows businesses to receive accreditation for submitting Plan Right applications with the Council. This process clarifies the assessment criteria for customers and simplifies internal procedures, ultimately enhancing the customer experience."

Cr Molachino urged developers and the community to reach out to the Council to pursue accreditation and/or verify the eligibility of your development for the Plan Right process.
