Families can now enjoy a brand-new park and playground at Highett Village Green, with the space officially open to the community.
Located on the former CSIRO site on Graham Road, Council has worked with Sunkin Highett Pty Ltd (Sunkin) to deliver the new Highett Village Green open space for Bayside within the residential precinct. While the park and playground are open, Council officers are continuing to work through some quality issues with the developer, as part of the defects and maintenance period.
The name Highett Village Green was chosen in consultation with the Highett Progress Association. The name reflects the strong "village feel" identified in the Association's 2024 community poll and the lawn area's resemblance to a traditional village green.
The playground includes rope obstacles, rockers, a round rope swing and slide, along with a picnic shelter, drinking fountain and bike racks.
The park and playground offer a welcoming place for local families to connect, explore and spend time outdoors. With open lawn areas, shaded seating and nature‑inspired play elements, the space supports imaginative play and encourages children to engage with their environment.
