Police appeal for help to find missing children at Armidale

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a girl and boy missing in the state's north.

Alyshia Spain, aged 12, and her brother Aaron Spain, aged nine, were last seen at 4pm today (Saturday 15 May 2021) at a sports and recreation centre on Mann Street, Armidale.

Carers who were with the children contacted police after the children could not be located and officers attached to New England Police District commenced an investigation into their whereabouts.

There are serious concerns for their welfare due to the children having medical conditions which require medication and the cold overnight temperatures expected in the region.

Alyshia was last seen wearing an army green jumper, white singlet and black tracksuit pants. She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with red hair, about 167cm tall and of thin build.

Aaron was last seen wearing a NAIDOC jersey, blue jeans and an orange/white cap. He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with red hair and of medium build.

It is believed both children were carrying backpacks.

Police urge anyone with information on the whereabouts of Alyshia and Aaron to contact Armidale Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
