Police appeal for information after man injured in attempted break and enter at Albury

An investigation is underway after a man was injured during an attempted break and enter in the state's south yesterday.

Just after 11.20pm (Monday 4 January 2021), officers from Murray River Police District were called to a unit on Watson Street, Albury, after reports two men had attempted to force entry into the home.

Police have been told two unknown men attempted to kick in the front door, before smashing a glass window next to the door, injuring the 39-year-old male occupant. The two men then fled the scene.

The man was treated at the scene, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition, where he underwent surgery to remove glass from his eyes.

The other occupants – a 23-year-old woman and two-year-old child – were uninjured.

A crime scene was established, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
