Police have charged a 28-year-old man following an alleged attempted sexual assault and robbery in Southport yesterday, 22 May.
It will be alleged about 11pm, a 28-year-old man has attempted to sexually assault a 19-year-old woman before stealing her personal property outside a university accommodation on Parklands Drive.
The matter was reported to police, and the woman was taken to hospital, where she received medical treatment and professional support.
A crime scene was declared in the vicinity of a building near Science Road and Multimedia Lane.
Following investigations, detectives from the Gold Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Southport address later that day, where a 28-year-old Southport man was taken into custody.
The man has been charged with one count each of attempted rape, robbery with violence and possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine).
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on 25 May.
