Police appeal for public help: Armed robbery, Gap

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a grocery store at The Gap this afternoon (September 23).

Initial reports indicate a man attended the Waterworks Road store on a pushbike, produced a firearm and demanded cash.

The man is believed to be in his mid-30s and was wearing a black hooded jumper, black shorts, shoes, gloves and a face covering with a navy cap.

The store attendant handed over a sum of cash and the offender decamped on a pushbike in a southerly direction down Illowra Street.

The pushbike was found abandoned on Illowra Street and it appears the offender has then left in an unknown vehicle.

Anyone in these areas this afternoon who may have witnessed this incident or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact police.
