Police are responding to fatal collision in Heidelberg West

A woman has died in hospital after being hit by a truck in Heidelberg West last week.

Officers have been told the woman was seen to run across a pedestrian crossing without warning, on Bell Street at the intersection of Plunkett Street, on Thursday 19 November about 3.30pm.

The 35-year-old woman was hit by a prime mover with trailer as she crossed into the third lane.

It's believed that at the time of the collision the crossing lights were still green to west bound lanes.

The Ivanhoe woman was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition where she sadly passed away.

The 43-year-old driver of the truck stopped to render assistance at the scene.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
