Police are responding to fatal crash near Wauchope

A man has died, and a woman was injured following a crash on the state's Mid North Coast today.

Shortly before 1.30pm (Monday 11 January 2021), emergency services were called to the Oxley Highway at Huntingdon – west of Wauchope – after reports a Toyota Prado towing a caravan, travelling eastbound, had left the road and crashed.

The driver, a man believed to be aged in his 70s, died at the scene and is yet to be formally identified.

The passenger, a 71-year-old woman, was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Mid North Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
