Police are responding to fatal crash, Racecourse

A 24-year-old Mackay man has died following a traffic crash at Racecourse in Mackay this morning (Sunday May 8).

Initial investigations indicate at approximately 5.05am a motorbike and Toyota Corolla have collided at the intersection of Horse and Jockey Road and Meadowlands Road.

The 24-year-old male motorcyclist died at the scene.

The occupants of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Eimeo man and 18-year-old Te Kowai woman, suffered minor physical injuries.

The 18-year-old woman was transported to Mackay Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, has information or relevant dashcam footage in the area at the time is urged to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
