About 10.50am, a grey Holden Commodore station wagon and white Toyota Landcruiser utility collided on Gommes Lane, about 2 kilometres east of South Western Highway.
The driver of the Commodore - a 73-year-old man - was critically injured in the crash and died at the scene.
The occupants of the other vehicle - including the 19-year-old male driver - sustained minor injuries.
