Police are responding to serious crash, Gaven

Police are investigating a serious crash on the Pacific Motorway around 1.20 this morning.

Initial information indicates the car was heading northbound when just north of Smith Street it allegedly clipped the back of a truck, lost control, hit a barrier and caught fire.

Police will allege five juveniles on board, two 14-year-old girls and three boys aged 12, 13 and 14 were injured. The 12-year-old boy and one of the 14-year-old girls were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

The 59-year-old man driving the truck was not injured in the crash.

The crashed vehicle was allegedly stolen from Palm Beach yesterday afternoon.

Investigators urge witnesses, or anyone with dash cam footage from that area around the time to contact police.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
