A man and three teenage boys are in police custody after a home was broken into in Sydney's south west.
Just after 10.50pm yesterday (Sunday 16 August 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Green Avenue, Smithfield, following a Triple Zero (000) call of a home invasion.
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were told approximately four unknown people forced entry into the house and demanded cash before two of the occupants were threatened with a firearm, a knife and a spray can used together with a lighter.
There were no injuries reported due to the incident.
Following inquiries, with the assistance from Public Order Riot Squad, State Crime Command's Raptor Squad and Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, about 11.45 the same day, police arrested an 18-year-old man and three teenage boys – two aged 16 and one aged 17 – on Oxford Street, Smithfield.
During the arrest, police have located a firearm, a spray can, a lighter along with items that were believed to have been stolen. A knife was also found at the Green Avenue home.
All items were seized to be forensically examined.
A crime scene has been established, and police commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The man and three teenagers were all taken to Cabramatta Police Station where inquiries are continuing.
