Police arrest man after Birrarung Marr assault

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man in relation to an alleged assault that occurred in Birrarung Marr on 30 October.

A 40-year-old Melbourne man was running through Birrarung Marr when he was allegedly struck to the back of the head causing him to lose consciousness and fall to the ground.

He was later admitted to hospital for treatment with a fractured skull.

Detectives arrested a 53-year-old man of no fixed address on 20 November.

He was charged with intentionally and recklessly cause injury, assault with weapon and unlawful assault.

The man was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 2 December.
