Manningham Crime Investigation Unit detectives arrested an 18-year-old man following a fire that caused significant damage at a Donvale school over the weekend.
It is alleged an unknown male attended the Springvale Road school about 1.30pm on Saturday 26 August.
The northwest corner of the building was allegedly set on fire from inside and a male was seen exiting the school and running from the scene.
The fire has destroyed five classrooms and a canteen.
A Ringwood man was arrested yesterday and released pending further enquiries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
