Police Arrest Man After Epping Attempted Armed Robbery

Police have arrested a man following an attempted armed robbery in Epping last night.

It is understood the man approached the counter of a fast-food restaurant on the corner of High Street and Cooper Street just after 10.30pm.

Officers have been told the man produced a wooden bat and demanded a staff member hand over cash from the till.

When he was told the till was empty, he fled the scene on foot.

No one was physically injured.

The 51-year-old Lalor man was located by police nearby.

He was arrested and will be interviewed in relation to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
