Police arrest man after pursuit in Melbourne's south

A 39-year-old Cranbourne man has been arrested following an alleged pursuit in Melbourne's South on Sunday morning.

At approximately 3.30 am, police sighted a stolen black Audi at the intersection of Hall Road and Western Port Freeway where police attempted to intercept the man.

Before police got out the vehicle, the man reversed the Audi into the police vehicle and drove off towards Cranbourne.

The police officers were not injured as a result of the collision and the damage to the police vehicle was minor.

At approximately 4.30am, the black Audi was sighted in the vicinity of Monterey Boulevard Frankston North where officers successfully deployed stop sticks.

The police airwing monitored the vehicle and observed it travel onto Peninsula Link beginning to travel on the wrong side of the road.

At this time, the vehicle had slowed, and officers were able to arrest the man without incident.

He was taken to hospital under police guard and the investigation is ongoing.
