Police arrest man after two people assaulted during home invasion - Redfern

Police have arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted a man and woman during a home invasion in Sydney's inner-city last night.

About 8.30pm (Monday 1 June 2020), emergency services were called to a unit on Walker Street, Redfern, following reports of an assault.

Police have been told a man, armed with a knife, allegedly broke into the unit and assaulted a man, aged 58, and a woman, aged 40.

The man suffered cuts to his neck and hand, while the woman received facial injuries.

They were taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from South Sydney Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police attended a house on Hollingshed Street, Mascot, where they arrested a 54-year-old man before taking him to Mascot Police Station.

Inquiries continue.
