Police arrest man after two ram raids

A 21-year-old man has been arrested following two ram raids across Melbourne early this morning.

Police were notified of an alleged ram raid at a Newmans Road bottle shop in Templestowe about 1.30am.

A Toyota Kluger was used to smashed through the front entrance of the business.

The alleged offenders attempted to break into the cigarette cabinets however were unsuccessful.

Officers were then notified of damage to a cigarette store in Oak Park shortly before 3.30am.

It's alleged the same Toyota Kluger was used to crash through the front entrance of the Snell Grove business at 2.26am.

They attempted to steal cash from an ATM but left empty-handed.

Patrolling police became aware of a collision involving a Toyota Kluger in Brunswick East about 2.40am.

The four-wheel drive had crashed into a taxi at the intersection of Nicholson Street and Glenlyon Road, with the three occupants running from the scene.

Police have quickly attended and arrested the 21-year-old Bundoora man nearby.

A search was conducted of the surrounding area however the two other offenders were not located.

The taxi driver sustained minor injuries during the collision.

It's alleged the Toyota Kluger was stolen from a Springvale address on Wednesday.

The search for the two remaining offenders remains ongoing.
