Police arrest man at Seaton drug lab, South Australia

A man was arrested after police discovered a clandestine laboratory at Seaton yesterday.

Serious and Organised Crime Branch and Western District CIB detectives arrested a 39-year-old Woodville West man after locating a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.

He was charged with manufacture a controlled drug and appeared in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court yesterday.

The premises where the lab was found was damaged by fire on 8 August, which police suspect was linked to a methamphetamine laboratory.

Acting District Chief Inspector Jon Halliday said, "Clandestine laboratories involve the use of toxic and flammable chemicals that pose a significant risk to drug manufacturers, the community and emergency services workers.

"People who manufacture or sell illicit drugs can face penalties of up to a $500,000 fine or life imprisonment, and can also have assets, such as houses or cars, seized."
