Police Arrest Man For Assault At Green Fields

A man was arrested for assault at Green Fields yesterday afternoon.

Just after 3.15pm Tuesday 19 May police were called to Green Fields by reports a man had caused disturbances at two locations.

An altercation had occurred between two men in the car park of a business on Port Wakefield Road, Green Fields. The suspect allegedly spat on the other man before both men left the premises.

It will be alleged the suspect then entered a mosque on Ryans Road and was verbally abusive to a woman inside.

The man then returned to the Port Wakefield Road business address where he allegedly made verbal threats to a 68-year-old man, spat in his face and attempted to assault him.

When police arrived, they located the suspect with a small wound to his chest believed to have been sustained during the altercation.

The 68-year-old victim received minor injuries.

The suspect, a 45-year-old man from Brahma Lodge, was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries and an assessment.

He has been arrested and charged with affray, disorderly behaviour, threats to cause harm and assault with biological matter.

He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court when medically fit.

Police wish to reassure the community that this was not a targeted incident.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who interacted with the man but has not yet spoken to police.
