Police arrest man in Dandenong with drugs and weapons

Police from the Dandenong Frontline Tactical Unit arrested a man and seized drugs and weapons in Dandenong early this morning.

Officers were patrolling when they intercepted a vehicle on the Princess Highway about 3.30am.

Police searched the vehicle and located 63 grams of cocaine, cash, a pen pistol, ammunition, prescription medication and an extendable baton.

A man was arrested and taken back to Dandenong Police Station where he was interviewed.

The 33-year-old man from Dandenong was charged with trafficking and possession of a drug of dependence, possess restricted medication without a prescription, possession of a firearm, possess ammunition, possession of a prohibited weapon and possessing the proceeds of crime.

He has been remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates Court today.

This arrest is part of Operation Tidal which utilises a highly visible police presence across the Casey, Greater Dandenong and Cardinia Police Service Areas (PSAs).

Tidal is an ongoing operation and police will continue to focus resources where they're most needed.
