Man arrested, officer injured in Central Coast pursuit

A man has been arrested and an officer injured, after a car crashed into two police vehicles on the Central Coast today.

Following inquiries, officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attempted to pull over a black Mercedes on the Pacific Highway at Murrays Beach, about 11am (Thursday 11 February 2021).

A pursuit was initiated when the driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop.

The vehicle continued south on the Pacific Highway and the M1.

At the Kariong exit on the M1, the Mercedes crashed into two police cars. The male driver was arrested and taken to Gosford Police Station.

One officer, attached to Central Coast Highway Patrol, sustained facial lacerations and a possible fractured wrist. He was taken to Gosford Hospital for treatment.

Inquiries continue.
