Police arrest man with firearm in stolen car in Corio

Corio police arrested a man in an allegedly stolen car in Corio on Saturday evening.

Police were called to the intersection of Plantation Road and Princes Highway to reports a man was slumped over the steering wheel of a car around 8.10pm on 14 May.

Police located a male asleep in the allegedly stolen white Mazda wagon.

The man was found to be carrying a home-made handgun and a further search of the vehicle located drugs as well as a machete.

A 28-year-old Lara man is currently under police guard in hospital and is expected to be interviewed later today.
