Police arrest pair after stolen car dumped in Preston

Dog Squad and Critical Incident Response Team officers have arrested two men after they dumped an allegedly stolen car in Preston this morning.

The allegedly stolen utility was first spotted by police driving erratically in Tyler Street about 2.50am.

Police coordinated units on the ground and successfully deployed stop sticks before the car continued on.

A short time later with the assistance of the Airwing the dumped ute was found in Eggleton Court Preston.

One of the men from the car, who ran from the scene, was arrested by the Critical Incident Response Team near a reserve on Albert Street.

Police dog Devil and his handler also searched the area and located one of the men hiding under a house in the street where the car was dumped.

The pair, a 41-year-old from Point Cook and 44-year-old from Yarraville, are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
