Police arrest pair over Collingwood assault

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested two men following an alleged assault in Collingwood this morning (1 March).

Police were called to Hoddle Street about 4.30am.

It is believed the victim, a 41-year-old Collingwood man was walking along the road when he was approached by two men and allegedly assaulted with a hammer.

He sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Two men, a 19-year-old Fitzroy North man along with an 18-year-old Fitzroy man are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
