Police Arrest Suspect Following Humpty Doo Stolen Car Chase

Northern Territory Police have arrested a man in relation to a stolen motor vehicle pursuit on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 1pm, Dog Operations Unit, Strike Force Trident and Darwin Traffic Operations initiated a pursuit on the vehicle after observing it driving erratically on the Stuart Highway, Knuckey Lagoon.

A short time later, Trident successfully deployed a tyre deflation device along the Arnhem Highway, resulting in the offender pulling into an unrelated residence in Humpty Doo.

The offender failed to follow directions and a Taser was deployed before the man was removed from the vehicle and subsequently arrested.

The offender will face court at a later date.

Detective Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard said "The driving we saw on Tuesday was incredibly dangerous and could have easily resulted in injuries or death.

"Once again the quick actions and collaboration of Dog Operations Unit, Strike Force Trident and Darwin Traffic Operations, has resulted in the safe arrest of a serious offender."

Police continue to urge anyone who witnesses a crime to make contact on 131 444 and in an emergency contact 000.
