Police arrest two after police car rammings in Shepparton

Two men have been arrested after ramming two police cars in Shepparton on 12 January.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit detectives activated their emergency lights and audible sirens as they attempted to intercept a black Holden Statesman sedan on Albert Street just before 10am.

The driver of the Statesman failed to pull over and drove at speed, head-on into an unmarked police car on Victoria Street, before driving away.

The two officers onboard received minor injuries while the police car received extensive front-end damage.

The Statesman was located in Law Street a short time later and a 30-year-old Shepparton man was arrested.

Police searched the stolen car and located numerous edged weapons.

While at the scene, police observed a stolen yellow Mini coupe drive by about 10.20am.

With the assistance of the Air Wing, police located the Mini in the driveway of a home on Colliver Road before it reversed into a police car and drove away.

The unmarked police car received minor damage and the two occupant officers were uninjured.

The stolen Mini was quickly located by police abandoned in a multi-storey carpark on Stewart Street.

The driver, a 17-year-old Yarrawonga boy was located on High Street and arrested a short time later.

Both males remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries.
