Police arrest two after police operation at Bankstown

Two people have been arrested following a police operation in Bankstown today.

Just after 11am (Thursday 18 August 2022), officers from Bankstown Police Area Command attended a home on Eldridge Street, to speak to a man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

While at the location, one man and two women – who had just arrived at the home – were arrested.

One of the women was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics as a precaution. The other woman and the man were released a short time later.

Following treatment, the 28-year-old woman was taken to Bankstown Police Station where she is assisting police with inquiries.

Another man – who was in the home at the time – refused to leave the house and a parameter was established around the premises, with additional resources from the Tactical Operations Unit, Police Negotiators, and Public Order and Riot Squad assisting with negotiations.

About 2pm, a handler and dog from the Dog Unit entered the cavity of the home where the 26-year-old man was arrested.

He was taken to Bankstown Hospital in a stable condition for treatment of a dog bite.

Inquiries into the incident continue.
