Police arrest two in man injured after crash west of Wyong

Two people have been arrested and a man has been injured following a crash and earlier pursuit on the Central Coast.

About 7.30am today (Friday 18 September 2020), officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a Holden Commodore SS on River Road, Wyong, after checks revealed it was reported as stolen.

It's alleged the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated; however, it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

Just before 8am, the vehicle was located crashed into a tree on Yarramalong Road, Yarramalong.

The driver, a man aged in his 20s, was trapped before being released and airlifted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The front passenger, a woman aged in her 20s, sustained a suspected broken leg. She has been taken to John Hunter Hospital under police guard.

The rear passenger, a 25-year-old Woy Woy man, was uninjured. He was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station.

Officers from Tuggerah Lakes Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Initial inquiries suggest the vehicle was stolen from Broken Hill earlier this week.
