Police arrest two men after carjacking and pursuit near Mt Druitt

Two men are in custody following an alleged carjacking and pursuit in Sydney's west today.

Police have been told that about 11.15am (Monday 22 July 2019), a 22-year-old man was stopped on the side of Luxford Road, Bidwill, in a Holden Barina.

A Land Rover pulled over in front of the Barina and two men exited the vehicle, which is believed to be stolen.

The pair approached the Barina and allegedly demanded he get out of the vehicle, before pulling him out by his arm.

The two men fled the scene in the Barina, driving east along Luxford Road.

The man was not injured, and witnesses contacted emergency services, with officers from Mount Druitt Police Area Command attending the scene.

The vehicle was tracked by PolAir and a short time later, it became involved in a pursuit at Lalor Park, but was terminated due to the unsafe manner of driving.

PolAir continued to monitor the Barina, before it crashed into a parked truck on Campbell Street, Northmead.

The 23-year-old driver, a Kings Park man, was arrested at the scene.

A passenger, a 23-year-old Quakers Hills man, fled the scene on foot to a nearby unit block and was arrested a short time later.

The Kings Park man was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing and is expected to be charged upon release.

The Quakers Hill man is in custody at Parramatta Police Station.

Inquiries into the stolen Land Rover continue.
