Police arrest woman after attempted armed robbery

Police responded to a report of an alleged armed robbery in Kew this morning (13 November).

Investigators have been told a woman produced a weapon and demanded a victim's phone in Yarra Boulevard about 9.10am.

The victim refused to hand over the phone and the female fled in a silver Lexus station wagon.

The vehicle was seen by Nunawading Highway Patrol members who attempted to intercept the car which refused to stop.

The vehicle was then seen a short time later in Bullen.

Police monitored the vehicle and initiated a pursuit.

The car was stopped by police in Mitcham Road at the intersection of Victoria Road, Mitcham.

A 24-year-old Healesville woman is in custody and assisting police with their enquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.
