Police arrest woman after pursuit near Ballina

A woman has been arrested following a police pursuit near Ballina today.

Just before 11.30am (Saturday 27 November 2021), police were called to the Pacific Highway, near the Tamarind Drive off ramp, near Ballina, following reports of dangerous driving.

Police were told a Toyota Corolla had crossed over double lines multiple times, narrowly avoiding on-coming traffic, and attempted to run several vehicles off the road.

A pursuit of the vehicle was initiated, before being terminated due to the manner of driving.

A short time later, officers attached to Richmond Police District stopped the driver – a 49-year-old woman – near the Tamarind Drive on ramp.

She was arrested at the scene and taken to Ballina District Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing, and the Corolla was seized for further examination.

No injuries have been reported and investigations are continuing.
