Police arrest youth after pursuit at Elizabeth South, South Australia

A youth was arrested after a pursuit at Elizabeth South overnight.

Just before 4am on Sunday 29 May, a patrol attempted to stop a white Toyota sedan on Philip Highway, Elizabeth South after police checks revealed the car was stolen.

The vehicle was pursued along John Rice Avenue and Main North Road for a few minutes before it crashed into a tree at the intersection of Montague Road. The driver had fled the car before police arrived at the scene.

Police searched the area with the assistance of Police Dog Jax and located a suspect nearby.

The 11-year-old Elizabeth boy was arrested and charged with illegal use. He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Youth Court at a later date.

The car was stolen during a break-in at Valley View on Friday morning. It has been seized for forensic examination and investigations are continuing.
