Police charge driver after investigation into fatal multi-vehicle crash at Enfield

A man has been charged following an investigation into a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Sydney's Inner West earlier this year.

About 9.40am on Saturday 9 April 2022, emergency services were called to the intersection of Coronation Parade and Wynnstay Avenue, Enfield, following a four-vehicle crash.

A 19-year-old Blakehurst man died at the scene after his Volkswagen Polo was involved in a crash with a Audi Q7 SUV, a Toyota Aurion, and a Toyota Hilux utility.

The Audi driver, a 45-year-old Belmore man, and his passenger, an eight-year-old boy, a 33-year-old Campsie woman driving the Aurion, and a 26-year-old Mortdale man driving the Hilux, were all hospitalised. .

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene which was examined by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU).

Following inquiries, officers from the Metropolitan CIU arrested a 45-year-old man at Campsie yesterday (Tuesday 30 August 2022).

He was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning death (speed), dangerous driving occasioning death (manner), negligent driving occasioning death and street racing.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday 11 October 2022.
