A man will appear in court today charged with traffic offences following a pursuit in the Sydney's south-west yesterday.
About 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 25 September 2020), officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command were assisting with traffic duties following a crash on Campbelltown Road, Ingleburn.
It will be alleged in Court the driver of a Mazda utility, a 49-year-old Raby man, drove over the roundabout towards an officer performing traffic duty, who took evasive action to avoid being struck by the vehicle.
A pursuit was commenced by police, following the vehicle through the suburbs of Ingleburn, St Andrews and Minto, before heading on the Hume Highway towards Liverpool.
Road spikes were successfully deployed and the pursuit was later terminated due to safety concerns.
About 6.30pm, police managed to stop the vehicle at traffic lights at the intersection of Moorebank Avenue and Newbridge Road at Moorebank.
The driver was removed from the vehicle and later taken to Campbelltown Hospital for testing, and upon release, he was taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with five offences including;
- Ignore police direction to stop
- Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously (Skye's Law)
- Predatory driving
- Use weapon to avoid apprehension
- Resist Police
He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 26 September 2020).
