Police charge driver over fatal pedestrian crash at Dareton

A driver has been charged after a man was struck by a car in the state's far west earlier this year.

About 7am on Saturday 10 July 2021, emergency services were called to Silver City Highway near Fletchers Lake Road, Dareton, after reports a Nissan Navara had struck a pedestrian.

A 52-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but died at the scene.

The driver, a 58-year-old man, was not injured and was taken to Wentworth Hospital for mandatory testing.

Following an investigation, the man was charged with negligent driving (occasioning death).

He was issued a court attendance notice to appear at Wentworth Local Court on Tuesday 11 January 2022.
