Police charge driver with high range PCA after crash with two children in car at Picton

A driver has been charged with high range drink-driving following a crash with two children in the car at Picton last month.

About 10.45am on Monday 5 July 2021, emergency services were called to Menangle Road, near Prince Street, following a collision between a Mazda utility and a white Subaru.

The driver and two passengers of the Subaru were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries.

The Mazda driver, a 33-year-old man, was breath tested at the scene and returned a positive reading.

Two children – aged four and five – were in the vehicle at the time. They were taken to Campbelltown Hospital for assessment.

He was arrested and taken to Picton Police Station where he was subject to a secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.266.

The Picton man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for drive with high range PCA.

He is due to appear at Picton Local Court today (Tuesday 10 August 2021).

A child at risk notification has been made.
