Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged five people in connection with a brawl at the Darwin Waterfront on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
During the incident, workers at a licensed premises were allegedly assaulted and suffered injuries to their faces and upper bodies.
Investigators from Darwin Police Station arrested three men, aged 19, 20 and 32, and two women, aged 21 and 24, this morning. They were taken to the Palmerston Watch House.
The five have collectively been charged with 27 offences, including aggravated assault, assaulting a worker, engaging in violent conduct, failing to leave licensed premises and disorderly behaviour in a public place.
The arrests followed an extensive investigation into the incident, which attracted significant public concern.
Since the disturbance, investigators have taken multiple witness statements, reviewed available evidence and worked closely with the venue. CCTV and other footage supplied to police was instrumental in identifying those allegedly involved.
Assistant Commissioner James A. O'Brien said the arrests were the result of great investigative work and valuable assistance from the public.
"This was appalling behaviour that unfolded in front of staff, patrons and visitors at one of Darwin's busiest hospitality precincts.
"Police have worked closely with the venue and the footage and information provided to investigators was instrumental in identifying those allegedly involved.
"We thank the venue and members of the public who assisted our investigation.
"Hospitality and security staff have the right to feel safe at work. Violence against workers simply carrying out their duties will not be tolerated."
All five were bailed to appear in Darwin Local Court next month.
Investigations remain ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out.
