Police charge four over drug supply in Tamworth

Police have arrested four men as part of an operation targeting the commercial supply of illicit drugs in the Tamworth area, NSW Police say.

Strike Force Boikonumba was established in September 2017 to investigate the commercial supply of illicit drugs and following extensive inquiries officers attended Freemans Waterhole today (Monday 5 February 2018).

About midday Oxley LAC investigators, assisted by Lake Macquarie LAC investigators, Traffic & Highway Patrol officers and the dog squad arrested four men.

They were conveyed to Toronto Police Station along with two motor vehicles seized by officers.

A 49-year-old Westdale man was later charged with supply cannabis (indictable quantity), supply cannabis (commercial quantity), knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug (methamphetamine), knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime and knowingly participate in criminal group.

A 46-year-old Quipolly man was charged with supply cannabis, supply methamphetamine (indictable quantity) and knowingly participate in criminal group.

A 33-year-old Bass Hill man was charged with supply cannabis (indictable quantity), supply prohibited drug (commercial quantity), knowingly deal with the proceeds of crime and participate in criminal group.

A 43-year-old Croydon man was charged with supply cannabis (indictable quantity).

Following the arrest five search warrants were executed at premises in Tamworth, Caroona and Quipolly where police will allege that quantities of drugs and cash were seized.

The four men were refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 6 February 2018.

Investigations by Strike Force Boikonumba continue with further arrests anticipated.
