After several years of construction, the day has finally arrived: On 22 August 2026, the Greater Copenhagen Light Rail will open along the whole stretch between Ishøj and Lundtofte. This means the opening of 17 more stations, including three stations at DTU Lyngby Campus.
According to Otto Anker Nielsen, a professor of transport modelling at DTU, the fact that the light rail runs through the campus itself is a huge advantage for DTU.
"It means shorter walking distances to the campus buildings and makes it easier to get to DTU from Lyngby Station, for example. The light rail is also expected to be more punctual than the buses, and journeys will be both more comfortable and easier to plan," explains Otto Anker Nielsen.
