Police charge four people after house destroyed by fire - South Granville

Four people are facing court, charged after an unoccupied house was destroyed by fire in Sydney's west last month.

About 7.20pm (Tuesday 10 August 2021), emergency services were called to Namur Street, South Granville, following reports of a fire.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and a crime scene was established which was forensically examined by specialist officers.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command commenced an investigation and following extensive inquiries have arrested and charged three people – a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man – who all remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, a 32-year-old woman was arrested about 11am yesterday (Friday 9 September 2022) at Granville Police Station.

The woman was charged with dishonestly for gain damage property by fire/explosive, recruit child to carry out/assist criminal activity and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.

She will appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 10 September 2022).
