Police charge man after 2019 fatal hit-run in Alexandra

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives charged a man following a hit-run collision in Alexandra that claimed the life of a young man in 2019.

Emergency services were called to Hall Street on 16 June after a 20-year-old man was located on the road with life-threatening injuries about 12.15am.

Paramedics treated the Mount Duneed man, however sadly, he died en route to hospital.

After an extensive investigation, a 25-year-old Alexandra man has been charged over the fatal incident.

He has been charged with six offences: culpable driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, fail to stop after accident causing death, fail to render assistance after an accident causing death, reckless conduct endangering life and reckless conduct endangering serious injury.

He has been bailed to the Benalla Magistrates' Court on 31 August.
